Since 1994, the Ed Morse Automotive Group, of which this store is a part, has hosted a golf tournament to raise funds to provide services to children and adults with muscular dystrophy. "This is our opportunity to help improve the lives of others," says Ted Morse, President/CEO, Ed Morse Automotive Group. "By partnering with MDA, we really can make a difference in the communities we live and work in."
Proceeds from sponsorships, raffles, live and silent auctions, and foursome fees contributed to this year's grand total. To date, the Ed Morse Golf Classic has raised more than $1,000,000 for MDA.
A Message from Carmine Colella
FORMER GENERAL MANAGER CARMINE COLELLA:
‘Thank you for an exciting, fulfilling seven years’
By the time you read this, I will have handed the reins of this dealership to Michael Scaglione. If you're a long-time customer, you may remember Michael was the General Sales Manager here for five years. In 2006, he transferred to another Ed Morse store—Bayview Cadillac—in Fort Lauderdale, where he served as General Manager.
It has been my privilege to serve as the general manager of this dealership for the last seven years. I'm proud to say during my tenure we received the President's Award four times. And through our EXCELL (Exceeding Customer Expectation Levels for Life) program we implemented dozens of customer-focused processes to ensure smoother operations—and the dealership has grown as a result.
Certainly, I will miss everyone, but I am looking forward to my new role as Executive Vice President within the Ed Morse Automotive Group. My plan is to spend as much time as possible at our 18 dealerships around the state, providing whatever services I can to enhance customer experiences.
I am confident Ed Morse Honda will continue to be one of the top dealerships in the country under Michael's leadership. After all, he was instrumental in getting us to where we are today.
Thank you for an exciting, fulfilling seven years. Remember, just because I'm not at the dealership doesn't mean I can't be of service. Feel free to e-mail me any time at carminecolella@edmorse.com.
A Message from General Manager Michael Scaglione
GENERAL MANAGER MICHAEL SCAGLIONE:
‘I'm excited to be back 'home'’
In 2006, I was asked to take over the general manager's position at the Ed Morse Bayview Cadillac store in Fort Lauderdale. What an honor! (And, what a long drive!) Bayview is the company's oldest store and is considered the flagship of our organization. Who wouldn't be excited about that? But along with the excitement came a twinge of sadness.
Heading up that store meant leaving the co-workers and customers I had become so close to over the past five years. Plus, I would be switching brands, which meant learning about a whole new lineup. But, I was up for the challenge and eager to repay the faith the Morse family placed in me.
When Carmine Colella, who has been the GM here since 2001, was promoted recently, I was asked to return and head this dealership. Because of Carmine's skillful stewardship, I'm stepping into a store that is a leader in the Ed Morse group and one of the most successful in the country.
I'm excited to be back 'home' and want to assure you that the exemplary service you've come to expect from us will only get better. My door is always open. So, the next time you visit our store, please stop by and say hello.
All-new Accord Tops 10Best List for the 22nd Time
DECEPTIVELY FAST: Along with more space, greater efficiency, more features and more power—the V6 brings 268 hp to the road—the 2008 Accord is reaching luxury-car-like status
This year Accord ranks #1 on the Car and Driver top ten list. Now, you'd think after 22 years of making the list, it wouldn't be such a big deal. But for us, every time is as exciting as the first. Why? Because that means the experts who test drive dozens of cars each year agree with us: The Accord is one terrific automobile!
Big Inside and Out
This year, the Accord officially moves into the EPA's "large car" category with the likes of the Toyota Avalon, Chrysler 300, Hyundai Azera and Buick Lucerne—all with higher sticker prices, by the way. In fact, with a starting price of $20,995, the Accord is the least expensive full-size automobile available today.
According to the article in the March 2008 Car and Driver, "Honda has simply nailed the econosedan formula, and it isn't just a matter of building the highest-revving engine, the most competent suspension, and the most ergonomic interior. The trick is getting every component talking openly and honestly to every other component. It's that sonorous mechanical interplay that lends the Accord its agility and charm."
The Right Balance
Come in today and see how Honda has struck the right balance between performance (268 hp) and fuel efficiency (31 mpg highway), comfort (spacious with all the advanced technology you desire) and safety (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2008 Top Safety Pick). If you're looking for the #1 10Best car that's fun to drive and easy on the earth, we've got it!
In the Spotlight: George DeGennaro
BRAND LOYAL: During his 24-year career, Master Tech George DeGennaro has always worked on Honda vehicles
In 1984, George DeGennaro went to work at his first Honda dealership, detailing vehicles. But he was always watching what was going on in the Service Department. Two years later he started taking classes. Now he's one of only 50 technicians out of 15,000 nationwide to achieve Master Technician status—and one of four at Ed Morse Honda.
"In the 11 years George has been with us, he has taken all the courses Honda offered, fine-tuning his skills at every turn," says Service Director Tim Duran. "When he works on a vehicle, I know it will be repaired correctly the first time."
"Today's vehicles are more complicated," says George. "I wouldn't say the work is harder—mind boggling is more like it. It isn't as much mechanical, like pulling up a couple of vacuum hoses and seeing how the car runs, as it is technical. We have scan tools that we hook up to the car's computer. You have to understand the readings in order to determine where the problem is.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., George moved to Florida with his two children in 1995. Then, he met Annmarie, who was a Service Advisor at Ed Morse Honda at the time. They married in 1999.
In his spare time, you'll find George at home relaxing with a good book or hiking and traveling with Annmarie. He's a diehard Yankee fan and Indy racecar enthusiast. His daughter lives in Florida and his son is a chef in New York.
All-new 2009 Pilot Extends Best in Class Status
RIDE READY: The 2009 Pilot emphasizes authentic SUV styling, clever and more accommodating interior packaging and advanced technologies for safety, fuel efficiency and convenience
The 2009 Pilot improves on the popular Honda SUV formula by adding more SUV-rugged aesthetics, more on-road refinement and enhancing interior functionality.
Designed around the concept of an "intelligent adventure vehicle" with the practical needs of a family in mind, the new Pilot makes 8-passenger seating more functional by providing even easier access and an increase in dimensions for legroom, cargo and occupant space.
And a V6 engine introduces the latest generation of Honda fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology that operates in 6-cylinder mode for power and 4- and 3-cylinder modes for efficiency. To enhance safety, the Pilot features the Honda-exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE®) body structure and the most extensive use of high-strength steel in any Honda product to date.
The Pilot has earned Car and Driver magazine's prestigious "5Best Truck" award on six consecutive occasions and the 2008 Pilot is among an elite group of vehicles to receive both a "Top Safety Pick 2008" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a 5-star crash safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
According to Motor Trend magazine, drivers "who genuinely prefer comfortable, controlled cruising to high-intensity corner-carving will love the 2009 Pilot's even more surefooted demeanor and improved ride.
"Despite the added people/cargo space, a slightly smaller turning circle improves its close-quarters maneuverability. And in a time when rising fuel prices loom ominously over all players in its segment, the Pilot's powertrain enhancements deliver tangible economy and emissions benefits."

Tech Tips for Top Performance
Service & Parts Hours:
Mon, Thurs, Fri 7:30am-6pm; Tue & Wed 7:30am-9pm; Sat 7:30am-5pm
Turn off the AC when it's not hot out.
If you don't need to run your air conditioner, don't. Your car's air conditioner forces the engine to work harder—and that's energy that could instead be used to move your car forward. So when it's 74° Fahrenheit outside, open the windows.
Use the right grade oil.
Modern engines have such precise engine tolerances that very lightweight oil is often required, such as 0-W20 or 0-W30. Thicker oil, such as 10W30 or 10W40, may not lubricate as well, because it won't flow as quickly into key nooks and crevices.
Thicker than required oil reduces gas mileage. Check your owner's manual for the recommended viscosity, and ask for it specifically when you get your oil changed. Don't settle for whatever is on special that week. Better yet, bring your vehicle to our quick lube.
Use the grade of gas you need and nothing higher.
Does your owner's manual say "Premium Unleaded Only"? No? Then don't ever use premium fuel. There. We just saved you 40 cents a gallon... or $8 on a 20-gallon fill-up. If your engine is designed to run on regular gas, there's no benefit to putting in "high test". It pollutes more, costs more and doesn't give you any benefit in performance or fuel system cleanliness.
By the way, all Honda vehicles run on regular!
